This site is deliberately spare: it currently sets only two cookies, both necessary for it to work. No audience measurement, no advertising pixel, no tracker. This document states exactly what is set and how to control it.
1. What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file placed on your device by a site when you visit. It lets the site recognise your browser from one page to the next, for instance to remember a preference. Related technologies, such as browser local storage, follow the same rules.
This site uses no local storage, no session storage and no invisible pixel. This was verified over a full journey in a real browser.
2. Cookies actually set
| Name | Role | Category | Duration | Issuer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| NEXT_LOCALE | Remembers the language you chose, French or English | Necessary | Session | SANKO (first party) |
| sanko_consent | Stores your choice on this banner, so you are not asked again | Necessary | 6 months | SANKO (first party) |
Both are first-party cookies: they are set by the site itself and shared with no one. They cannot identify you or follow you from one site to another.
3. Why these cookies do not require your agreement
A cookie strictly necessary to deliver a service expressly requested, or which stores a display preference expressed by the user, is exempt from consent. That is the case for both cookies above: the first remembers the language you chose, the second your decision on this banner. Refusing the latter would mean asking you again on every page.
4. Optional cookies
No optional cookie is set today. The banner nevertheless offers an “audience measurement” category, switched off by default and never pre-ticked.
It exists so the mechanism is in place before any measurement tool is added. On the day one is, it will load only after your agreement, not before. Your current choice will be honoured without asking again, unless the categories themselves change.
5. Changing or withdrawing your choice
The “Manage cookies” link at the bottom of every page reopens the choice window. Withdrawing agreement is as simple as giving it, and has no effect on your browsing since nothing optional is active.
You can also act from your browser, whose settings allow cookies to be blocked or deleted. Blocking the necessary cookies remains possible: the site will keep working, but the language you choose will not be remembered and the banner will reappear on every visit.
6. Resources loaded from other servers
Vehicle photographs are served from SANKO's administration server. That request sets no cookie.
Typefaces are hosted on this site. They were previously loaded from Google's servers, which sent your IP address to that third party as soon as any page opened. That is no longer the case.
One outside resource remains, on the Contact page alone: the Google Maps map. It only loads as it nears the screen, but loading it sends Google your IP address and the page you are viewing, and that provider may set its own cookies there. To avoid it, simply do not scroll down to the map, or block third-party cookies in your browser.
